Bhavana Reddy

Bhavana Reddy, younger daughter and disciple of legendary dancing couple Padma Bhushans Drs. Raja Radha and Kaushalya Reddy, is one of India’s leading young Kuchipudi dancers acclaimed internationally and is in demand as a solo touring artiste the world over. Bhavana is a combination of the elements of Kuchipudi Dance - Natyam (drama) - Natanam (dance) - Sangeetam (music). She has been praised for her flawless footwork; as a marvellous actor with her histrionics; prowess in abhinaya while rendering of singing verses and captivating stage presence. As such, she represents the complete qualities of Kuchipudi dance-drama.

She is the recipient of multiple honours including two National Awards - coveted Central Government Award Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and FICCI Young Women Achievers Award. She is also a recipient of the prestigious European Grant for choreography from the Kylian Foundation for a work with Leo Spreksel.

She has given solo performances for Pt. Ravi Shankar, Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Foreign Minister Shri Vinod Gokhale, Congress Leader Smt. Sonia Gandhi, eminent politicians.

Bhavana had the unique opportunity to perform and choreograph Kuchipudi for Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra’s production of Stravinsky’s ‘Rite Of Spring’ and performed it at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles.

Her performance film of “Bhamakalapam” was featured in the Indie Dans Festival, Korzo Netherlands and she is scheduled for a Kiliyan Foundation residency with Korzo.

As former Director of training and outreach at Natya Tarangini, she had pioneered many efforts such as ‘Kuchipudi Exercises for All’ with Dr. Raja Reddy on Instagram LIVE till mid April, 20; ‘Parampara Series’ Cyber Festival of Music & Dance with United Nations and UNICEF India.

In 2020, Bhavana established her own International Center for Kuchipudi Dance in Los Angeles that trains students from various countries, dominantly North America.

She is solely dedicated to the preservation and propagation of the sacred Indian Classical Dance - Kuchipudi.

Bhavana is an empanelled artist with India’s esteemed ICCR and Doordarshan panels.
