Yamini Reddy, elder daughter & disciple of legendary Kuchipudi exponents Padmabhushans Dr(s) Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy is one of the leading Kuchipudi Indian classical dancers of her generation today. Yamini is a three time National awardee who has wowed audiences in India and abroad. Yamini has toured as a principal dancer of the Reddys United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, UAE, South East Asia extensively. In Dublin, the Mayor of Dublin presented her with the golden key to the city after seeing her perform with her parents.
Three time National awardee, Yamini has been awarded the ‘Yuva Ratna Award’ Youth Vocational Excellence award by the District Rotaract Organization, the Young Achievers award by FLO Delhi and Hyderabad, the ‘Devadasi National Award’. Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by Sangeet Natak Akademi (2007). The SBJ legends of Tomorrow title, Jashn-e-Youngistan by News24 and the ‘Pride of Telangana’ award (2019). Yamini was the first dancer ever to perform at the prestigious Wigmore Hall London in 2011. She has also participated in National and International Festivals as a solo performer. Her performance at the BRIC summit in Ekaterinburg, Russia was highly appreciated.
As a Kuchipudi performer Yamini has been well received in the art circles. Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Sarod Rani Sharan Rani Backliwal, the stalwarts in the field of Music and Dance applauded her for the flawless footwork and rhythmic expressions. Pandit Ravi Shankar even complimented her by saying that “Yamini is just made for dance, she is a complete performer.”
Currently Yamini has her own institute in Hyderabad - ‘Natya Tarangini - Raja Radha Reddy Institute of Kuchipudi Dance’ founded by her parents Raja Radha Reddy & Kaushalya Reddy. Here she trains students of various age groups in the art of Kuchipudi Dance. She has her own troupe with whom she performs regularly.
